air filter pods caved in

I am in the process of tuning up and upgrading my 80 XS 650 Special. The bike has round air filter pods on it that are damaged and appear as if they are sucked inward. My guess is that they are the incorrect ones for the bike.

What would cause them to do this?

excessively dirty, thus being restrictive, thus ambient air pressure pushing them in when the engine sucks in air.

Probably. I was worried that they were the wrong ones. So that being said, would any filters work or is there a difference or a set that is specific? I will more than likely just order from Mikes, but I just placed an order and I may wait until I need more stuff vs. buying locally.

the ones from Mike's don't have an inner lip - which is important, since the slide breather is right at the edge, and if you have a lip, you'll restrict it, and wonder why you're spewing fuel every where at 1/4 idle.
