airbox compatability

Can anyone tell me if an airbox from a '78 or '79 XS650 Special will fit an '80 Special?

Nope. The 78-79 used a 38mm carb and the 80 used a 34mm carb.

Nope....Nope....and Nope! Other issues as well with the bracket hanger mounts, rubber joints and more. PITA
(recall that 80 SG was a redesign year for the air boxes from a mostly metal to a mostly plastics design concept...side covers as well) Blue
