I just finished my first cafe racer build with this 1980 XS650G. Took it out for the first ride and it ran great but the battery got really hot. I tried to make it happen again with the seat pulled to watch and couldn’t seem to duplicate the issue. I think maybe the bolts on the bottom of my seat might have been touching the solenoid in the electric tray could this have caused a short making the battery hot?

Love the bike. Where did you get the license plate holder? Also, just a nit pick, but I believe your tuning fork emblem is upside down on the tank.

Well it’s stuck on there now so fuck it haha I found that holder on some random site on the internet. Don’t remember which one just googled it and it popped up.

Thanks man yeah it feels good cornering I don’t have a lot of experience to compare but it feels good to me I haven’t rode it a whole lot yet and was gonna wait to go for a longer ride till I made sure the battery wouldn’t overheat again...I’m gonna test the volts while running today and go through curlys guide to make sure my charging system is good then I’ll be gone down the road
