Yeah, I noticed that, too. I ordered one of the advance units a couple years ago, and even though the listing specifically says "with disc", the advancer comes without it. Notice it missing in this:

Instead, that 'slotted disc' seems to come with the advance shaft.

gotcha now. Yea should be part of the Advance mechanism
My original has served me well for many years. I keep expecting it to wear out and do check it from time to time but so far, it's still good. I think it does have a small amount of wear. I think it advances a degree or so more than when new. But, I'm still able to compensate for that with the idle timing "range" provided. I do keep the advance and advance rod well lubed. I think lack of lube is probably what kills them. Most I inspect for the first time are in dire need of it.
