Any way to test ignition unit?

Fried all my wires and redid all my wiring and had my bike running but I did it all in crimps so I soldiered all the connections but fried my ignition unit somehow. So I went over all my wiring and put a new(used) one i got off eBay in and my bike is doing nothing. Lights wont even come on. Any way I can check if I fried this second ignition unit? Any help or ideas?

Need more information...............year of bike/year of engine. Is the ignition stock................is it points or TCI?

Have you checked your fuse(s)?

Battery charged? Have battery voltage on the red/white wires at the TCI and coil?

82 xs650 with stock ignition. It's only what the bike needs plus a headlight and taillight and killswitch and one fuse.
