I've been trying to set my basic timing using the procedure in my Clymer manual.
I'm using an Ohmmeter and turning the motor by hand until the point closes (showing zero Ohms), then the Ohmmeter goes out of limits right when the point opens ( I'm assuming)....I check the timing mark on my stator...it looks spot on for each cylinder.
Does this sound correct?

I'm so close to getting this thing running I'm about frantic trying to figure out what ails it.

I'm just lacking a front brake master cylinder to be roadworthy...if I can get her to crank up.

Yes, the points need to just open as the marks line up. The meter going from zero to infinity shows that.
