Dimensions: 5 5/16" L x 3 9/16" W x 6 3/8" H
Most would consider it a waste of time to try to reduce the size of battery appreciably and still expect it to serve passably well as the power source for electric starting....especially here in the cold, cold mountains Bret. Our stock size XS 650 batteries are none too big as it is.
You can however go way down if you go kick start only!

Try a search for a z10S size battery. 8.6Ah, 190 CCA, 3.4" x 3.69" x 5.94" Similar discharge profile as stock battery, but very little reserve should you need to crank more than 2-3 times. Plus $50 and up!!!
