Hi All,

I hopefully will be picking up a 75 xs650b. I know many of you will say buy them all but if you could only have one which is the best to start with?

cycleserv (have not heard much about them) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-1975-Y...v-XS-TX-650-Repair-Service-Book-/161063138326

found a vintage service manual - http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-Motorcycle-Service-Manual-XS650B-Vintage-1975-/251331054967

or the good ole haynes or clymers? If there is something else I should look at let me know!

Thanks!

I think the factory ones are best but yes, you want at least two. One should be the factory manual, the other one of the aftermarket versions. As far as the aftermarket ones go, I don't have a preference. I have them all but honestly, I rarely even open the aftermarket ones. My factory manual is literally looking dog eared, lol. I had to tape the cover back on.

That cycleserv looks very interesting, never heard of them, 150 pages, specific to your model.
My gut tells me to grab that one NOW (only 1 left). The other manuals pop up frequently, that one's rare...

Hi 5twins.

When you say the factory one are you referring to this one? If not can you provide me a link to one.

Yes, that's the original manual from Yamaha. There's a free version on line for the '78 and newer models if you want to have a look. Much of it will pertain to your '75. Your carbs are different of course, as are your forks and front brake, but most of the motor stuff applies .....
