I have a broken stud on the bottom of the forks - the one that clamps down on the axle. Any tricks to get it out? There is about an inch sticking out. I'll wait to get some replies before I try anything. Thanks.

do you have access to a ace torch? if you do , vice grip that sucker as tight as you can, and start heating the stud. wear gloves, and start putting pressure to turn it.
MAPP gas might do it too. its not as hot as acetylene, but hotter than butane. the cans are usually yellow, and connect to a butane torch the same way. butane will not do it.

You could always pay full whack at the Yamaha dealer.
Mind you, even US built cars use metric threads these days so coincidence could be your friend.
I know I found a GM brake bleed nipple that worked for my XS650 at Canadian Tire when I needed one on a Sunday.
