I need to know what the air line connections go to on a pair of Mikuni BS38 carburetors. I'm wondering if they bridge to each other or should they be capped? I've included an attached photo indicating which connectors I have in question.

Neither, those are vents for your float bowls. They should vent to atmosphere. Leave them as is or attach short clear hoses and let them dangle down between the carbs.

It could. A vacuum or partial vacuum may form in the bowls and hinder fuel flow.

Thanks 5twins. I now think those hoses are suppose to go through the holed tabs that are secured at the bowl and main body joint

Exactly, little hose guides came attached from the factory to a float bowl screw on each carb. Be glad you got them, they're missing many times and I have no clue where to get them.
