Cam chain tensioner blade clip? what is this?

Knowing clatter is normally the case works for me. Thanks for all the info.
I do love to tinker and play so my thought is why not heat the engine up, and flat gauge in a 1k gap?
now you know you have a gap at normal temp and let whatever that is at cold temp just be?

Do it and report back how it works?
Yeah that whole "you are the test pilot" thing gets scary.

The gap is all about no valve burn in worst case scenario.

Consider it done. I got no problem being a test pilot. I work on elevators and escalators for a living. Some are high tech new. Some are 100 years old. I test pilot a lot.
I'm waiting for my rear shoes from eBay so the bike is apart (detailing and paint touch up ) but by next week I'll put it together and ride it to normal temp and then tweek the gaps to 1k ish and ride it more then see how it is the next day from cold.

My "done" pic.
The tank that they gave me must be from a newer year with decals, so I took the original plastic Yamaha name and siliconed it to the side of the tank not bad for a beater it doesn't look mint, but it looks like a nice saved piece.
