Carb slide springs

Well, if you're serious about getting them to work right, I would start by getting Z-8 needle jets and 4M1 needles, then base the rest of your jetting around them. Carb kits aren't recommended as all the jets are aftermarket and the quality can be questionable. You'd be better off buying the individual genuine Mikuni main and pilot jets you need. Here's a chart I made up showing the stock jet sizes .....

You will be basing your jetting on the '76-'77 set. My bike has pod filters and a freer flowing exhaust so the set pictured above has been jetted with 27.5 pilots (one size up), 132.5 mains (four sizes up), and the needles are leaned a step.

Gary, the guy who's looking for the springs, may be able to set you up with some other original 650 carb parts as well, like the bottom angle bracket, top butterfly shaped plate, and correct longer choke rod. The brackets that the throttle cable attaches to also differ .....
