what years did yamaha 650s use regular carburators ?
i believe that the carburators that were used on some engines were different than the early models......... they had big rubber diaframs inside the carb........ i think the others were like the mikuni.......... regular carburators .

so what years had the diaframs & which had reg-carbs ?

they all had diaphragms. two different models of carbs used with slight variances throughout the years. all mikuni.

All stock XS650's came with carbs with vacuum slides. If you are talking about direct pull slides like the VM34 or VM36 then none of the XS650's came from the factory with that type of carb although the VM34's are a popular replacement carb for our bikes.

It was translated through a few languages so some words are a bit hard to understand but with the pics it is a good guide.
www.amckayltd.com/carbguide.pdf is a very good carb guide. It explains how to Id the carbs as well as how to tear down clean, inspect, reassemble and adsjust the carbs.
