Chain damaged frame...

Hey guys.

So non xs but on my XT500 the previous owner abused the bike to the point of letting the rubber chain slider wear away until the chain was hitting the frame and swing arm. That brown rusted spot is slightly dented on the frame and i'm wondering if anyone has any advise as to a remedy to prevent it from failing catastrophically?

+1 should be fine but if you are worried, build it up with some weld and grind smooth.

Yeah the last owner raced the bike every week for years...winter too. Switched over to ice racing when the snow came! ha so i'm sure it's structurally fine, still better safe than sorry. What about finding a tube with the same ID as the frames OD, cutting it in half and splinting it?
