I have posted 2 links to Windy Nations rectifiers on Ebay.
Even though I have saved lots of favourites on all sort Electrical, I'm still a bit confused on which rectifier to buy.
I just want a spare so that I can always keep my OEM Alternator going as the forum has taught me that its the best design (versus PMA).
Will the 35 Amp rectifier in the link be okay or do I need to go for the 80 amp version from Windy Nation ( they say its used for wind turbine - does that matter).
Link to 35 Amp.

Link to 80 Amp.

If you check the shop manual, you'll find the system output is only about 11 amps, so the 35 amp unit is fine and what most of us use. The 80 amp unit would be way over-kill and it costs more too.

Thanks Twins for the reply.
I understood the Amp stuff, I just wanted assurance they work on a motorbike as they are advertised for Wind Turbines etc.
So, a 3 phase bridge rectifier is not fussed that its 12 volt from a bike's alternator.
I would want to mount it in the original position, so If I bolt it to a piece of (say) 6mm Alum plate about the same size as the bottom of the battery, I would have a suitable heat sink ?.
Will order the 35 amp ones tonight.
Thanks
Regards Ray.

Yes, a rectifier is a rectifier is a rectifier. They do the same thing, convert AC current to DC current, no matter what they're hooked up to. I used a section of heat sync from an old computer for mine, but just a piece of aluminum plate is fine. You'll get better contact between the plate and rectifier if you put some heat sink compound between them. Here's a thread covering construction .....

I ended up using this big a$$ rectifier on my Suzuki GT750. Attached it to an aluminum plate with heat sink grease too. Barely gets warm. Overkill yes, but it was the one I could get quickly from Amazon. Was about $25 Cdn.
