clutch madness

Picked this bike up just the other day, with 7,000 miles on it. been sitting for a couple of years in a garage. I seem to have problems with the clutch, when you pull the clutch lever in and put it in gear, the rear tire automaticaly starts spinning (on the center stand of course), before you let the clutch out. I've done the adjustment from the forums, but now such luck. Is the clutch cable stretched out and need of replacement or am I just missing something. It goes through the gears great and never misses a beat while riding down the road. Replace oil with 20-50w and clean the worm gear and ball is still there. never messed with the clutch basket, nor did the previous owner, Please help me, so I can start riding

That is normal for a wet clutch. XS650's have a tendancy to have more clutch drag than the average bike.

+1 sounds normal, as long as it doesn't move when it's sitting on the ground you are good.

my rear tire will move while on the center stand until the bike is good and warm then it stops unless i give it a lot of throttle then it'll start moving again.
