Clutch Not Engaging Completely

Just got an extended clutch cable from mikes, works alright just a little stiff. Bike is currently not running and has not had oil in it in about a month. So even with the clutch cable shortened all the way there is no slack or play in the lever, is this normal? Also when I have the lever sqeezed in all the way I can put the bike in first but with the clutch lever pulled in the rear wheel will turn but there is a lot of resistance. Makes it hard to push the bike in first with the clutch engaged, doesn't seem normal. Is there a problem here? Im just afraid the clutch will still be grabbing when the bike is in gear and running.
 
Hi, pa-powerstroke. You may or may not have a problem. Many things need to be in good order for the clutch to function well. Don't know how far your cable is pulling, or what type and configuration of your actuator worm.
