Clutch not engaging or disengaging

I can't seem to either get the clutch to engage or disengage. If I adjust the clutch I lose compression but am able to roll the bike in gear with the clutch lever in, if I adjust the other way I have compression and can run in neutral but stall as soon as I go into gear.

The bike was barely rideable, it would creep slowly in gear with the clutch in but I just changed the clutch cable and now I can't even get it to the point of being rideable.

Anyone run into this before? At this point I am planning on replacing the clutch but are there other things I should inspect as well?

Sounds like you're not getting enuff clutch pressure plate separation.
Read up on the Tech section's clutch threads, see if anything clicks...
