Clutch problem/popping?

I took my bike out for a descent ride today and when I get on the gas real good the RPM's jump in between 4 & 6 and it dogs. It pops a lot like its back firing or something. The bike has k&n filters on it could this have something to do with the problem? Or could it be that the clutch is not engaging like it should? Any advice would be awesome.

After you installed the new air filters did you do any adjustment to the carb?

Check to make sure that the new filters' boots are not covering any orifices in the carb inlets. If they are, trim the boots at the spots where they're covering them.

- k n n filters are generally ok...its usually the el cheapos that block the carb openings

Good to know. I've only had el cheapos on my bike.
