I am just about to start swapping the innards out of my main cases into the new cases. I am wondering if anyone has had any luck getting the crank out without breaking the cam chain. Im sure breaking the chain is the approved way of removing the crank but i would really rather not if the crank can be snaked out of the chain loop once the cases are split.

No need to break the chain at all. Remove camshaft and let chain drop. There will be a big loop of cam chain on the bottom that the crank will easily pass through. Assembly is the reverse...
