what is the measurement between the rod & shim on the lower end, im at .022 on 1 rod & .020 o the other rod. thanks

The specs are in your repair manual. You do have a repair manual don't you?
My factory manaul states .3 to .6 mm - .012 to .024 inch. You also need to measure the rod small end play by tipping it sideways with out sliding the rod. the small end should move no more than 2 mm used 1 mm with new parts.
If you don't have a repair manual you should get one. You will find having one very handy. To have the specs and procedeures at your fingertips will save you time.

thanks alot i got the printed version off the enternet its ok but it didnt break it down like a normal service manuel, thanks for the info
Did you download the one from biker.net? They are factory manuals. It should show it some where.
