Dual disc setup on an early 77

Hey fellas, Just bought a early 77 with dual discs up front. Bike appears to be stock everywhere else. Did Yamaha offer that option? I thought it was a European requirement. Any input appreciated, Joe

Adding the second disc and caliper is an easy thing to do. Doing this with the stock master cylinder greatly increases the braking power.
I think the European bikes also used a smaller disc, 10.5 inch diameter where the US rotor was 11.7 inches.
I have put dual disc on both my 75 and 81. The brakes work great.
