I was doing some general PM (preventive maintenance) on my XS when I noticed the battery ground cable (where the cable bolts to the frame) looked slightly chaulky. Normally you see this at battery connections. I removed the bolt to clean the connection when to my surprise, the area on the frame, under the terminal, was painted. This was original factory paint, no bare metal anywhere. I believe it had been that way for 30 years. I removed the paint with a small grinder, cleaned the terminal, coated the area with KopperKote and reinstalled the bolt.
