For Starters: I am NOT talking about replacing the existing oil pump on my XS with an electric oil pump.
Well, not yet...
I recently got my hands on a new power steering cooler that is adequate to use as an oil cooler.
Secondly, I'm considering a much deeper oil sump.
Now what if, instead of plumbing my oil cooler to the existing, factory oil pump I were to install 2 fittings, two oil lines, and an electric oil pump NEAR, not on, the bottom of the deeper sump?
I think I might want to add some sort of temperature controlled switch to shut down the electric oil pump when the oil is cold.
Your thoughts? I recently shelled out for a HHB Permanent Magnet Alternator CCI system so I think it should pull it.
Any suggestions on what kinds, types, sizes, brands... of pumps and controls I might want to use?
I'm wondering if a low pressure electric fuel pump like used on small engines might work.
