It seems like the starter motor is slipping. It will turn over initially but as soon as it begins to fire up it slips and stops turning. Any ideas what it could be?

Here's a video on how one guy fixed his....

common prob even with new kit , after rebuild put a new mikes starter kit in and within 200miles doing the same , didn't realise at the time even mikes new kit spring needs to be tensioned most of the time (let alone the old spring) theres a couple of write ups here on it including about some models you have to reposion the spring end .. I keep meaning to redo mine but I'm lazy and waiting for another reason to take the clutch apart first

Thanks guys, seems like that would be the problem. As soon as it stops raining (florida is fun) I'll tighten it up and see how she runs.
