Electric Starter Problem

I have the typical electric starter problem. The starter only engages sometimes, the other times it does not engage and just grinds away. I’ve tried everything I’ve found on this. I’ve tried several different starter clips and #4 gears. I’ve tried tightening the starter clip loop. I’ve tried everything. It still doesn’t work.

Does anybody know something else that can cause this problem?

You may have to buy a fish scale and measure to be sure you have the 6 lbs needed.

Retiredgentleman - Thanks for the reply. I’ve already tried that and it's over 6 Lbs. Hard to get a good reading but i would say about 8 Lbs.
