Hello,

I am in the process of building a bobber and I am starting to focus on engine. Engine ran before project, so I dont want to mess with it much. I am buying the PMA from Hughs Handbuilt and need to know what I should order for the pamcopete, it looks like there are different combos. I have a 81 xs 650 special. also is there a good way to clean it up with out doing an overhaul. guessing parts cleaner and a toothbrush might be a good method. thanks in advance, will post pics after I start machining some custom parts thanks again mitch

Closing openings so dirt doesn't go into the engine is a big deal. Anything is better than nothing but good seals are cheap insurance. a couple bolts and washer with handlebar bushings will seal the intake ports.

These in 1 1/2" work great for the exhaust

about $2.50 a pop at the hardware/plumbing store.

My standard engine cleaning kit is a toothbrush and other brushes mineral spirits in a squirt bottle, one from Hudson or a trigger branded Farnam hold up well to the solvent. Brass gun bore cleaning brushes get between the cylinder fins and other snug places.
