I have 1981 650 special that runs great, but has always had a engine rattle or knock under load it goes away when you let off gas, I have a few years ago put a new head gasket, timing chain and guides, but it still made that rattle, sounds like it is from the top end, it has always done that from day one.
When I had the head off to replace the head gasket, I checked the ring ridge in the cylinder and there hardly was any at all.
The noise is around 3000 rpm's or higher when you open throttle a little.
Just wondering if thats a coman noise , it probably has about 40000 miles on it.
Thanks
