First build.. Trying to do a desert sled-ish bike

A little update.. I did some work to the forks. Did the Minton Mods with the mods from 5Twins. Enlarged the four big holes to 6 mm and added one more small hole 2 mm. New seals and then polished the lowers. I was going for a brushed look.

But then the other day I saw this beauty.. The seller says its from a triumph, but isnt it from xs1? I cant decide if I should buy it. It looks so cool, but Im not sure I can set it up working properly..

Decisions Decisions :)

Yes, I think the only thing thats missing is one black plug as seen on the picture.. How bad will it brake compared to the disc brake? And how difficult is to set it up properly?

The scratches near the intake valve are factory no problem. If the cylinder walls are ok you might be able to use the pistons. For off road the disc would be better than the drum brakes. Looks good so far.

Im going more for looks of off road than actually riding off road. I dont have the skills for riding off road :)
Ok, but I have already ordered the new pistons so Im going to bore it :)

Thanks alot Scabber!

Whats up with this build, im subscribed and would like to follow this as you get at it ;) Progress looks great so far. Allso the XS1 drum brake would be cool looking. :bike:

Thanks vsop-dk.

I have made some progress.. started on the seatpan. Im not good at cutting in metal, so its not straight as the frame, but Im not gonna do it over again.

I wanted the seat to match the stock tank and the honda tank, so I bracket over the stock tank mount

image_zps1omwuhq8.jpg

Then welded on some brackets to mount the seat, one in each end. My not a welder so the bracket are not in line.. but no one will see when I ride :D

I can easily imagine how that will end up looking ;) great  so are you gonna get ready for this summer you think?

The seatpan looks cool... and good you got the brackets added, my Mount worked perfect when no battery case were made, just after it got mounted I found out that the Mount for the seat couldnt be reached, so i ended up using industrial grade velcro and it keeps the seat in place ;)

Looking forward seeing how you Progress with this.

:bike:

Thanks! I really hope to get it done before june.. there is a meeting called The Castle Run from Copenhagen to Lolland. I hope I can ride it there :)

Hehe velcro is a good idea too.. Im planning on not to make a batterycase. under the honda tank is a lot of room and I hope I can put al my electronics and sparx battery eliminator in there.

Where in Denmark are you from?

Thank you!

This thing is going slow forward.. and some steps back :) Im playing around with seat and rear fender issues..

Nice Progress, the triump seat would might be a better option if your planning a two person bike and not a solo ;)

Allso, good to remember the brackets and mounting plates, remember the coils if your going for the monster ones, they should be planned for if thats your choice ;)

Long time no see.. but I have been making some progress. The motor is coming together
