fork swap ???

Can I swap the forks from a 1982 xs650 onto a 1977 xs650 ? I have a really nice 82 xs seized engine but really nice frame and body if any parts are needed. I know i have to weld on new lugs for the master cylinders but need to know if the head sets are the same .

You can swap the forks as both sets are 35mm. The '77's are fixed but the '82's have pre-load (?) settings.

ya ? thats cool i love it up here, hunt, fish, ride . but i have extra parts if anyone needs anything let me know.

I did the fork swap and swing arm also since both are disc and it had better tires . now i just have to figure out how to mount the rear master cylinder since the 77 was a drum brake. any ideas

also mounted disc brakes front and rear. further research shows its a 72 frame.
