Good day to everyone! I have a problem (again) I recently acquired some fork tubes (6" overs) with damper rod's, springs etc but no lower legs. My originals are 34mm Dia (XS650 1975) and these tubes are also 34mm Dia BUT in the 6" overs the damper rod piston measures 26mm and the internal bore measures 28mm. Is this correct, will they work as it seems a little slack for me?? I've tried to show it in the pictures.

If you're referring to these parts that fit into the bottom of the fork tube, then I think that loose fit may be normal .....

The above parts are from a '77 35mm tube, but I imagine the design and sloppy fit is similar. I never actually measured the parts like you did but can say that the parts are a loose fit and just sort of "float" in the bottom of the fork leg. By the way, I see many pull these parts out but there's really no need to. The damper rods can be removed from the tops of the tubes and these parts left in place. In fact, starting with the '78 fork tubes, you can't even remove them, they're crimped in place.
