I recently bought the TC Bros forward controls and linkage. I planned on just cutting the stock shift and brake levers a little short, drilling a hole, and mounting the linkage like that. I was wondering if people have done the same thing, and if so I was curious to see some pictures or find out how short people are cutting them down and still having it be easy to shift and brake. Any ideas, pics, or info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I should have my controls tonight, I will let you know what I come up with when I have that much figured out. If you look around in the pictures you can see how a few others have done it. I thought about cutting and welding the stock brake/shift levers but I am not so sure that this is the route to take. Check back tonight, I may have some answers for you.

MurphDog, thats exactly what I did. I used CV joints on each end for connectors, and then an all thread rod wrapped in 1/2in steel tube purchased from Lowes. You have to make sure your connecting rods are really stiff or you will just end up bending them on a hard brake.

Here are a couple photos.. they are hard to make out the rig, but I can take better pictures tomorrow when I get home if you need more reference.

Btw, the one thing that I have had trouble with is the kick start arm will hit the connecting rod at the bottom of the stroke, so if you are building a kicker only then you will need to come up with a better mounting arrangement or just live with a few dings on the kicker arm.

murph,

I have used the TC Bros controles and this is what I came up with... hope it helps.

Sweet bike TWM!

I had to move my brake light switch too. I cut it off and re-welded it to the frame.

I reused the factory pivot. I welded a piece of tubing under the pivot to raise it up 2 inches off of the frame.
