Has anyone converted a single front disc wheel into a twin disc front wheel.

What calipers did you use is there a pair of a modern bike that will fit without to much altering.

I converted my '75 to twin disc, using a stock caliper. IIRC, several years came standard with twin discs in Europe, and in the US both lower fork legs had the mounts. Don't know about the third question; I would love to find a set of calipers that would take more modern pads.

The caliper is the same its what is mounts too that makes it a lt or rt. I got my lt side off an late 70's 850 or 1100 Yamaha. The disc came off a XS 650 front wheel. All found at a local bike junkyard.

Mounting calipers off other bikes isn't hard. You need to build adapter plates that bolt to the forks and the caliper bolts to the adapter.
Do a search for Blue Dot calipers. Several people have adapted them to the XS650.
