Front sprocket nut???

I believe that the real reason these come loose are sprockets with a loosely fitting spline. I can remember having to use a puller to get a sprocket off the spline because it fit so tight, I think that is what is needed here. No matter how tight the nut is eventually it will work back and forth a bit and loosen up.

I tried something a while back that helped, I built up the inner surface of the sprocket where it engages the spline with a bit of weld at a couple points, then carefully ground down the weld until it fit on the shaft tightly enough that I had to put the nut on and use it to seat the sprocket.

Didn't come loose for a long time after that. I did the same with the cannibalized sprocket I used to adapt the belt drive sprocket and it too stays tight. I wonder if new OEM sprockets are still available and how they would fit the shaft.

pack the splines inside the #26 bushing with heavy grease, if nothing else it will take the oil longer to migrate thru
