fuel in exhaust`

I just started my xj550 today for the first time. I saw and felt, smelled, fuel coming out exhaust pipe #1 at the collector. Carb issues?

there is spark. When I took the plug out to check spark, a lot of gas came out the cylinder thru the hole when I turned the motor over. I took out all the other plugs and checked but nothing came out of them. I pulled the carbs off the motor and turned it over a few times with the plugs out. No gas came out of ANY of the cylinders. looks like there is not much if any varnishing but the main jets were all pretty crusty looking. I have not yet pulled the diaphragms or floats.

Clean and rebuild Then adjust to spec

I found the #1 carb had no Oring on the float needle seat
