Today I decided to clean and rearrange the garage. I hauled 5 yard cart loads of stuff to my metal building, and now I have more stuff, less space, garage is in total disarray and I can`t find a damn thing.:cussing: Glenda came out ahead because my Birch frame jig table is now a catch all for her stuff. Pic #2 is 1/3 of what has become her half of my garage. The frame jig now has casters so it can be moved out of the way if need be. I did find 12 pair of gloves and another 7 for the left hand:shrug: Imagine that. Tomorrow I`ll finish the garage make over and somehow convince myself I`m more organized.:shootme:

I just rediscovered eBay. I sold my well traveled Pelican tool boxes over the weekend. They had become useless space takers. Now, they’re no longer in my garage and my bank account is up by $200.
If I’m not using it, it needs to go. Otherwise, if I suddenly drop dead, all that stuff goes in the dumpster anyway. So, I’ve narrowed to two hobbies and all else must go. Life is better uncluttered.

I have a small garage, it’s as organized as can be - considering I have to share some space with beach bikes and kids skateboards etc, that being said I have all bigger tools on casters, (even the work bench, and the MC lift), everything can easily be moved around if I need space for work.

I have a one car garage and a two car garage and a hot tub/wood burner building. I hoard everything, bikes and parts, building supplies, electrical supplies, scrap metal within my reason, tools galore and lots of etc. I'm always finding use for stuff that others would throw away. I'm a happy guy.

I have a friend with an incredible amount of “stuff.” I once asked him, “What is your wife going to do with all of this when you die?”
He said, “We have an agreement. She’s going to die first.”
His daughter is deceased, so I can only imagine what may happen to all that treasure when he goes.
We’re all wired differently. Too much stuff makes me crazy, particularly if it’s clutter, be it mine or hers.

I have slowly been weeding out the herd Bar video games (that no-one plays anymore) Last year I dug into a bunch of old stuff that I had accumulated over the years a lot of it I got for free ( hey it's old I can't throw it away) and I had a fire sale
I even had an old fireman's outfit with rubberized coat and cool metal helmet
I pretended like I was going to move and it was sell, sell, sell
The local charities get a bunch too I've hoarded this stuff too long

Why worry about what happens to your stuff when you're dead? It won't be my problem, I'll be dead. Put it out to the curb, I won't care, I'll be dead. Give it to my brother-in-law, he can use my precision tools for hammers, I won't care, I'll be dead.

Halfmile,
Now THAT is a bike Garage !
When winter youth sports is over (Ice Hockey) I'll get my weekends back and 2-3 nights a week back.
Looking forward to moving some of the team gear out (My final year of HS coaching) so will be investing in a proper tool cabinet on wheels.
I have a bad habit of spreading the tools along the floor between the bike bay and my son's car. walking around is like playing twister sometimes.
I"ll also be able to move one of the bikes to a vacation spot in April so I'll have more room as well.

Yes, just as I said, we’re wired differently. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I am thankful that my parents have extremely little in the way of “treasure.” They long ago cleared most of the heirlooms. Whatever they leave shouldn’t be a problem for me.

EXACTLY! I think of it as payback for all the times the kids/grandkids aggravated me...:sneaky:

Meanwhile, if I need a piece of 1 inch square tubing 2 inches long, I've got it here. Somewhere...

I expect your ability to organize is far better than mine. I keep buying things I already have. My mess causes me stress. That’s the root of it. I truly believe you know far better where “somewhere” is than you would have us believe.

That may well be true. My German heritage seems to manifest itself in my penchant for organization. First thing I do when I get a new tool or lay in a supply of something new is figure out how and where I'm going to store it. It's not uncommon for me to spend more time (and money) on storing a tool than on the tool itself...

First thing I do with something new is to put it down and forget where I put it. Or, leave put it down so my wife will pick it up and put it away. Where?

Garage is done for now. My camera could not focus correctly because there isn`t enough stuff for it to focus on. Looks like I`ll have to go out and buy more stuff. I did find 4 more pair of gloves.:umm:

So are we Americans the only country where a lot of us (not me) have to rent storage space to keep all of our crap. It just amazes me how many storage facilities there are around the country filled with mostly crap. Commercialism at its best.

I have stuff. Need an '03 OEM Toyota Camry front bumper cover? How about half a box of good used red Scotch Brites? Maybe a set of full wheel covers for a '92 Ford F-250 4WD? I tell ya', I got stuff CHEAP.

I have been on a mission to get rid of any tool I don’t need. I have zero wall space left due to everything being in cabinets so when I needed a place to hang my clamps I went to the only available space I had, the ceiling…IMG_6409.jpeg

Yep, and most Americans (not me) are ass deep in credit card debt still paying for crap that is either in storage or long gone. When the financial SHTF, I will feel sorry for none of them.

More through dumb luck than planning, I have ZERO debt other than a car payment. No mortgage, no credit card debt, no loans...nada.

It's a wonderful feeling.
