Hi kbtoy here got the 79 up and running Very happy. But getting poor gas mileage. 40 miles per gal.The post here say I should get about 50? Carb jetting 30 pilot 135 mains. 502 needle clip in the middle. Any body Thanks
A lot depends on how well the carbs are tuned to the air intake and exhaust.
Your one up on the pilots and stock on the mains.
This should work ok on a fairly stock intake and exhaust.
I run Uni Filters. 1.5 inch home made headers and a short straight through Emgo muffler. On my 750 kitted 75 and I get 50 - 52 on an average ride. Push it to around 80-85 mph, it drops to around 45.
BS34's one up on the pilots, two up on the mains.
I had a set of 76-77 BS38's set up about the same and got about the same mileage. www.amckayltd.com/carbguide.pdf is the carb guide, it has a section on tuning.
