I have been staring at my frame for the last two weeks and cannot get this idea out of my head...
It is always dangerous when you think you have come up with a good idea that you haven't seen anyone else do before.
I like the Fong Bros style hardtails with the peg mounts included and it occurs to me that I could attach a custom hard tail to the existing assembly instead of cutting it all away.
On Mountain bikes we call the upper horizontal tube a seat stay -- I would run the seat stays to the junction of the peg mount and the little 90 degree tubes that sit under the side covers rather than going clear to the frame loop.
I think this might do a drop seat style that would look more like the factory frame.
I am iffy on the strength but the peg mounts obviously natively support the swing arm and I could do some flat plate gussets to reinforce the smaller diameter tubes under the side covers.
any thoughts?
