hi guys i,ve seen a couple of xs650 bikes that the owners have made up either out of 3/4 allthread.. and nuts or a similar size metric bolt shorter than the standard rear height along with some decent thickness channel and mounted thos in place in thestandard swingarm instand rigid... if youget sick of it you can go for shorter shocks which you can buy from mikexs or off ebay.com usa.... hope this helps regards oldbiker

Struts is what those are. Used to be real popular for drag racing back in the day. Ride the bike to the strip, swap the shocks for struts, race, put the shocks back on, ride home.
