I just discovered that it seems I'm not getting oil to the top end of my engine. Thinking oil pump, but what else could it be? I oil tube and banjo's are clear. New oil filter, gasket etc.
Is your tachometer working. Thats a good clue that your oil pump drive is not turning. Is this a new engine build, on new builds is does take a while for the oil to get to the head. When priming a new build I have to push the bike about 50 metres in gear to get oil up to the top oil line banjos.
When working on other bikes, i remove all sparkplugs, and use a socket on the alternator nut, with a handcrank type attachment, for priming and checking oil flow
Remove and check the orifice found inside the fitting at the bottom of the oil tube to the head. A previous owner that slathered on silicone seal may have let a loose chunk of glop plug the hole. Use caution when retightening that fitting to the crankcase, the threads are fine and bit easy to strip out. Hold the fitting with a wrench while tightening the gland nut on the tube to it. Not a lot of room to swing wrenches getting it out and back in.
