hey dudes, I had some drama with my XS getting lent on its side a little while ago and knocked the timing out. This was fixed today but trying to fire it today I was getting some oil backfire on the right hand carby. Do you guys know why? It got lent on the LH side.

Here’s some picks

Well, which cylinder got oil in it might depend on which cylinder had a valve open at the time of the fall. What side it fell on might not matter so much.

How does oil get in?? Did it drip from somewhere onto the carburetor?

I would say yes. You may not have to clean anything, just burn it out. Sure, it'll smoke some for a bit but so what.

How does oil get into the cylinders when the bike is on its side and a valve is open? I thought the oil system was isolated by the valve seals. I could imagine a situation where oil could leak out the breather and find its way to the carburetors. Is it possible for oil to leak past the rings when the bike is on its side?
