Help out a newbie with a '79 please

Ok guys I recently purchased a 79 xs650 that the previous owner had started to turn into a chopper. He put a TcBroz hardtail on it and did some other work cosmetically to it, the only problem I have is there is absolutley no electrical on it at all and being as fresh as I am with this build I dont even know where to start to get the bike back in running order. So basically what Im asking is for the bare necessities to get it running with or with out a battery is fine and cost effective of course is always best (will improve as I go but just want it running before I spend alot of cash). So any help would be greatful and feel free to explain it like im a little slow because with electrical I just may be

Go to XS650 tech at the top of the page, go to electrical section, read everything. It's really not all that hard, there are some very simple wiring diagrams there that will get you started. Just think through one system at a time and it's not so intimidating
