I picked up a 1980 SG that has been sitting much of its life. It reads about 3300 miles on the odometer and is still sporting the original dry cracked Yokohama tires. The amount of tread left on them would indicate the mileage being correct. After cleaning the carbs and replacing a pourous float on the left side carb, it starts with the choke on, and will idle without it after warmup. my problem is when I give it throttle, it wants to die and won't accelerate. My question is, what is the first place I should look ? I'm thinking a possible vacuum leak. Any help from the carb experts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !

Did you remove the brass plugs over the mix screws and then the mix screws and their associated parts before doing your carb cleaning? If not then the idle circuits probably aren't clean yet. You can't do a proper cleaning of the idle circuit with the mix screw still in place.

Carbs are almost never clean enough the first time you do it. Or the second.
