How do I adjust my shifter arm?

Hey there. I have a 1980 xs650 special and I want to lower the shifter. It's a bit too high for my liking. Can't seem to find much help. Anyone?

Remove the bolt that holds on the lever, remove the lever, put it back on in a different tooth/groove.
