I'm trying to help my father in law sell this SX2 and additional engines and parts. How much should I charge for the whole lot? You're welcome to make offers, too. I'm in Marshall, MI. -Thanks!:

-1972 Yamaha XS2 , 2 additional engines, and many more engine and bike components:

-'72 XS2, Frame S/N: S650-124488): Does not run. Missing some components. Would be for restoration or parts. Have title. Engine on bike (S/N: S650-014640) is kick-start only -should be of value, I hear.

-'73 TX650 Engine (S/N: S650-205348): Some components missing, but good for a rebuild.

-'74 TX650A Engine (S/N: 447-007463): Some components missing, but good for a rebuild. Cylinder not shown but it is included. (I left it at work after honing it to evaluate it and it missed the photo shoot.)

-Everything in the picture is included: heads and covers -all usable with the engines shown, lots of hardware, electronics, and unused gaskets included. Extra tank is in relatively good shape.

-I will send additional pics of all items upon request.

Getting it running would probably double the value. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for any non-runner no matter how clean it looks because there's just no way of assessing the state of the engine. You could do a compression test, but can you believe the numbers? Badly leaking valve seals could be adding a nice sealing coat of oil to everything bumping the numbers up. Then you get it going and find you've just bought a stylish smoke machine...

It looks nearly 100% complete so I'd take the time to get it going. Unless you know already the engine has serious problems you don't want to deal with.

72 XS2 bike, 71 XS1B engine.

For an original restorer this in not a good combination, the 72 had a decompression lever connected to an electric start lever. If it had the 73 TX engine, (they had the decompression set up), in it and going then it would be acceptable and could be passed off as looking original.

The 71B engine in the bike, is really only worth money if an enthusiast wants it to match up into a XS1B frame/restore a non matching numbered bike.

parting it out would net more than $500-$700 i would think. A titled frame, or just the neck can be worth up to $300.00. The exhaust system and chrome parts, (if good chrome and no dents would fetch good money, (good money is dependent on what is considered good in your area or after some research), especially the exhaust. any of the tins without dents, and if the chrome emblem surrounds on the side-covers are good then they to are sort after. Those air-boxes are hard to find

A lot of work for a restorer/enthusiasts and i think 1500 would be a very good price if you got it. And as GreasyC says a running bike has a lot more going for it. Make sure the rocker covers match the heads, They are a numbered match. If they don't then the heads/rockers are not worth anything.

Thanks, guys.

Believe or not, a very nice guy from Finland just came buy in person and paid cash for it all. I won't say how much. It's actually getting shipped to Finland, too!

People were kind enough to help give you an idea on what it was worth. no you don't have to tell us how much you got for it but if the answers helped you then an idea whether any one was in the ball park would be conciderate
