Is there a trick to removing the front brake lever collar from inside the master cylinder housing? I'm trying to replace the front brake lever, but the lever's being held in by the collar.

I've removed the lever screw, but that collar (which looks like it just sits in there and should slide out the bottom) won't budge. I've tried moderately tapping on it with a flathead and small hammer, but no-go.

I can supply photos if my description's not clear.
Any ideas?

What I have done is screw the pivot screw half way into the bushing and then tap on the head of the screw with a hammer. A little heat from a heat gun may also help. It will come out.

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused?
I'm with you as far as screwing the screw half-way into the collar, but the screw head will keep the combo from coming out the bottom.
Or, are you saying to tap the UNDERSIDE of the screw to drive the screw/collar out the top?
Thanks.
