The link is from the Facebook
XS650 North America parts and bikes for sale
group. Lots of interesting pics. Here are a few XS650 highlights:

The pipes on the lower left look interesting...

They also make seats, handlebars, camshafts...

I was interested in an exhaust for my Yamaha Enduro and contacted a seller in Indonesia. Told them the year and model. My bike is a DT175E (1978) and they said they had a pipe for me. They sent me a photo of a 100cc enduro, not even the same year and series as my bike and said yes they could supply this pipe. Price was very cheap including shipping. I think one needs to be careful ordering from some of these vendors as there could be fitment issues if they cannot guarantee part to model compatibility. Not sure what import duties would be.

If someone does check them out further I’d be interested in hearing more.

It seems Bali has a pretty healthy obsession with the XS.

It I would be HIGHLY suspect of any internals manufactured overseas without seeing some serious engine building from the people selling them. Too risky. Overseas manufacturing just doesn’t seem to have the quality control.

You have to be careful. You have to weigh risk vs. reward. And you shouldn't spend more than you are willing to lose.
I'm pretty intrigued, and I have reached out to the seller. I'll report back when I get a reply.

FWIW, I just had to find out what "knalpot" means, so I googled it. Knalpot is Indonesian for exhaust.

Japan does a lot of production there, and I think Indonesia is somewhat dependent on bikes for transportation, so maybe some good possibilities for quality parts

I finally got a response to my inquiry today. That it took almost a week doesn't bother me at all -- the guy seems to be the CEO of a legit steel company, and seems to have a life. I messaged him going into the weekend, he appears to do stuff, has a nice home and family, and is into vintage Hondas. Now that I finally have his attention, he's putting a bit of work into making the sale.

I asked about these. Didn't look like they would be too expensive, and seem pretty unique. I don't recall ever seeing anything like them on an XS650. I don't think many builders have the ability to make a large-radius curve like these have.
Here's the response I got:
We can make it

He want make it

So, anyways, $289 shipped is a little high, I was hoping for closer to 200, but it's an okay price compared to TC Bros, especially when you consider that it comes chromed.
I'm probably going to buy them. It's the kind of thing where you wait and see what you get, and then build the rest of bike around it. There's also a pretty good chance that I'll end up re-selling them.
Thoughts anyone?

When I was building my XS2 I had an Instagram page dedicated to a photographic record of the build. I was surprised when my account got a lot of followers from Japan, there is a really hot vintage bike scene in Japan, but I was even more surprised when I developed a very large following from Indonesians. They are very passionate about restoring old bikes and some of them get pretty creative making their own parts.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, you got it exactly right. Here are the other auction pics:

It's still pretty different from the Indonesian pic. The Indonesian pipes have a very large radius sweeping curve. That's what makes them unique.
I'm going to spend the rest of the morning mocking up some pics to send to the guy. I want a left and a right side pipe. I've never been a big fan of both pipes on one side. The side with the pipes looks like Hollywood, while the side with no pipes looks like an orphaned stepchild.
