Thanks, i wasn't going to run one but after reading the controversial threads all over here about the goods and bads, nobody seems to have an answer. So i figured if I can make it look better than stock I'll run one.
I don't know the last time this motor has been ran. I threw new rings gaskets and seals in it and pamco/pma. Fired right up 3rd kick and idled nearly perfect without being timed. That is until oil started leaking out the side cover. I have a leak from the clutch rod seal, which i replaced but must have cut when i installed it.
Carbs look good. Glad to hear your engine started up for ya.Feels good don't it? How did your pipes sound man?
Oil leaks suck,it didn't want you to get spoiled.
Got a new push rod seal in. She runs like a dream. The pipes have a super nice tone to them as well.
I had to add another rod on each side of the fender to keep vibes down. I was thinking i was going to needone anyways, thought I'd try it without.
Got it timed and Ricks carbs seemed to be spot on for now.
I have a few more pictures that I'll get up.
Right now it's broke down for paint. Pipes are at Jethot getting ceramic coated. Paint and powder will be dropped of Monday. She's getting close. I hope to have it all together when i get the parts back in about a week and a half.
I'm waiting on the right side engine cover to get back from the painter so i can get the motor in the frame.
(I powdercoated the left.)
And also the forks.
Can't get too far without those.
In the mean time I'll get the calipers rebuilt and assembled.
Pipes are on their way back from jet hot
Well, it's really coming together. I'm about as far as i can go until the pipes get here.
Here's a bunch more pics.
Belt drive, gma controls.
Being a metalic paint, it's very hard to show the true shade from a camera since it's constantly changing. You can tell each photo almost looks a little different. Some darker, some lighter, some almost copper, but they are in fact all the same color. Out in the sun these will look entirely different than they do inside. I'm in love with this color.
This build is dedicated to my grandfather who passed away last November. I started the build in August and wish he was here to see the end result. Also without the tools and machines i inherited/purchased from him, i would not have been able to build this bike to what it is.
