Intro and 1980 XS Build. Brown Bomber.

Great work maas562! The tins remind me of Root beer, that'll look good with the cream you have on there. Your Grandfather would be proud of what you've done.

Thanks John.

The computer really washes out the cream color. It definitely looks white on here but in person it's definitely more cream. The tins came out awesome, I can't wait to see them in person.

The color was supposed to be House Of Kolor-Cocoa Pearl, but apparently they discontinued that color. I also looked at a rootbeer color by them but it was quite a bit darker. This shade is a little lighter than what I was looking for, but it definitely kicks a$$.

I love everything about Your build!
I'm sorry that Your GrandPa isn't going to see it finished.
I have 7 grandchildren I hope to be here long enough to see one of them build something cool like You have:thumbsup: " just replace cool with awesome"
cool in my day ment awesome not just okay like it does today.

Thanks guys!

I can not wait to get the tins. My painter is going to wet sand them monday night and I'll pick them up after.

Then it's just a waiting game till the pipes get here. I can't go much further until they do. The front motor mount, left engine cover, carbs, rear fender, and rear tire all need to be off to get the pipes on. I don't want to put all the parts on only to have to remove them and risk scratches for no reason.

Here's a picture of the left engine cover that was powder coated.

I have my fingers crossed that everything shows up this week. I entered into a pretty big show this Sunday the 17th.
I'm also waiting in my internal throttle to come in. I ordered one from Nash and they drug their feet for 3 weeks before even shipping the thing so i got pissed and ordered a streamline designs internal. I guess whichever is higher quality will get used. The other will get sent back, or possibly used for internal clutch after the show, if i don't go hydraulic. (yes i know it would be backwards since it's a throttle, but that way it'd keep everybody and their brother from asking for a test ride)

Just checked the tracking number.

The pipes are out for delivery and will be there when i get home from work. Also picking up the oil tank and forward controls from the painter which are the metallic brown. I'll get the tank and fender Tuesday. Getting super close!

She is looking great!
test ride! there aint no test riding of anything that I own!.
I just tellem go get their own if they want a test ride!
I figure it's like motorsports.
no one races for free!
And You are not selling it!

Lol i suppose. I have a close group of buddies that i grew up riding/racing with that i trust enough to take her her out. We all test each others bikes.
Plus I'm sure my dad will take it out for a cruise since it's a tribute to his father, and it's waay cooler than his Harley!

Getting closer every day.

Picked up the last of the painted parts, except for the tank and fender. I did get to finally see them in person however, and was blown away.... I can't wait to get them on the bike.

I also got the pipes back from JetHot. I went with the ceramic chrome coating, it's good to like 1500 degrees and won't blue like normal chrome. They aren't as shiny and don't quite have the mirror finish like chrome but I actually like this finished better. Easier to keep clean.
Also was able to put most of the last few parts on now that the pipes are on.

Not sure yet, would be cool to have one paint matched. I have my full face that i wear on my buell, but would have have a half dome type. We'll see what i find, have a little while till we can ride yet.

Nothing too special to update on today. Started on wiring, and bought $80 worth of fancy stainless hardware to replace all the temporary stuff i used during mock up.

Well... here it finally is. It started back at the end of last summer around August. I worked on it maybe every other week, no rush, planning on having it ready to ride around late April.
My buddy text me back in January and told me about a pretty big local bike show that was on March 17th. He asked me if I'd have my bike done, I said, "you bet I will."
I worked on it non stop after that. It's cool to look back at the pics. I didn't really have a specific style in mind or any ideas rather.
I just started and built what pleased my eye.

Though it's not 100% finished, I took a bunch of pictures and couldn't stop looking at it. I still need to run all the wiring, get the chain and tension on, the clutch cable hooked up, rear brake line, and get my internal throttle on which will be here friday.

Enjoy, Comment away.
