Hi guys,

Got a xs1 front drum brake, the lining inside the drum is thin. Too thin.

Have anyone successfully replaced the lining? Is it even possible?
Is it pressed, riveted or casted into the aluminium hub?

I don't have access to my wheel at the moment (got a long way to the garage) so i spend time researching methods to fix it...

Anyone been in my position?

Best regards
Patrik

If you can find one, they are usually inserted by thermal disparity. The hub is heated, and the lining is chilled (preferably with dry ice) to shrink the liner and expand the aluminum hub. When God smiles on you, it just falls right to the bottom flange, and slowly assumes a balanced temperature, and it's done.

have a look at MMM's vintage brake website. Not sure about XS1 may be riveted or bonded, cheers

Yeah I think I would give Micheal Morse a call for advice. It would be nice if you post back how this turns out.
